Code Club

Coding, also called programming, is a skill set that students could use for a future career in a world that has a shortage of skilled coders and programmers, coding can help students in their other subjects, too—coding can improve soft skills like perseverance and problem-solving that we educators emphasize. Coding is especially beneficial to students who are struggling with reading and math. In addition, students often feel empowered when they can create digital media and share it with others instead of just being consumers of digital media.

Code Club

Open to Students:   Grades 4th & 5th
Times:
Wednesdays   3:30-4:30pm

Fee: $50 per student
*Due to the limited number of spaces, we will be using a lottery system to select participants.

Club registrations will begin Friday, August 24
First Semester club dates - Sept. 17- Nov. 16
(*Clubs will not meet the week of Oct. 8-12)

*Clubs that use a lottery system to determine participants will accept registrations from all students interested.  From entries received, the maximum amount of students will be selected randomly. Selected students will be notified to complete the club registration by sending in the activity fee for the club.

Our goal is to help students make connections between programming and the real world. Our students will not only learn about coding and how the digital world can affect the physical world, but also the patience, diligence and teamwork needed to accomplish team goals.
